Art & Kevin

We have been training with Janet since 2007


When we started, we were both in our 40’s and realizing that at our age and work conditions, our lack of activity was going to catch up with us.  Art had been diagnosed with severe and chronic neuropathy in his arms and legs, and in particular his right leg where he has no feeling from below the knee.  We were both concerned that a fall might cause serious injury.


Neither of us are the gym type, so Kevin spoke with a co-worker who had been working with a personal trainer at the office.  In discussion with the co-worker, Kevin was advised that Janet would be willing to do in home training and design specific programs for us and work around any limitations we might have.


We decided to give Janet a call and set up a time for an interview where Janet covered off our limitations, medical issues, our goals, and expectations.

Since inception, we have been training with Janet once per week where we go through Janet’s specifically designed program for each of us.  Each week she gives us pointers to correct and improve the routine, and over time, she intensifies each routine.  On occasion, there may be one or two routines which may not work due to physical limitations (or even dislikes) and her ability to change part of the routine on the fly is amazing.  Each program runs about 10 – 12 weeks and then a brand-new program is carefully designed based on our specific wants or needs.


Since before the pandemic, we have been doing our sessions remotely via Facetime or Skype.  The effectiveness of the training remains totally intact through the remote method.


Janet is extremely professional, very friendly, and knows her business.  Her ability to encourage and to push our limits is appreciated.

I started training with Janet 10 years ago. My wife and I were living in Tsawwassen and she came to our home. She initially sat down with us to review what we were wanting out of a fitness routine, what kind of space we had available to us, and what our goals were. 


Golfing is my sport of choice and I wanted to make sure that I could continue to play as long as I could. She not only designed workouts that would help improve my strength and flexibility for my golf game, but also took a look at my muscle inbalances overall and created a program that would not only give me what I wanted, but also what I needed. 


We worked with Janet for a couple years and then moved away to be closer to our children and grand-children. We felt at this time we had some good programs under our belt, learnt a lot of great tips and techniques on how to exercise correctly and safely and continued to work-out on our own.


Fast forward to 2022. Our exercise routine had dropped off and I wanted to get back on track with taking care of my health. I remembered how great I felt 10 years ago when I was exercising regularly, and I wanted to get some of that back. My biggest concern was exercising incorrectly and ending up doing more harm than good. So, I reached out to Janet again and saw that she was doing all of her training remotely. 


This was great for me as I could still work-out in the comfort of my home, and she was still able to correct my form and make sure I am getting the best out of my exercises. I am very pleased to say that since starting up again my balance and fitness has greatly improved.


My recommendation to anyone looking to either get fitter for the first time or to continue to stay fit is to not go it alone. Just pushing weights around will not get you the results you are looking for and at our age may even do more harm than good for you. Find someone who will teach you how to do the exercises properly, efficiently, and effectively, trust me you won’t regret it.

Fitness is not about being better than someone else. It's about being better than you used to be.
